In this project with the incredible Anna Ashby, we brought a quiet power to the lens. Anna’s teaching, rich in depth, awareness and restoration offered a rare kind of subject: stillness in motion, presence in pause. This shoot was created to support her advanced teacher training programme and website imagery, with a visual brief that carried clarity, depth, and creative flair. We worked in studio to honour the simplicity and softness of Restorative Yoga. But we also added a twist: subtle, directional lighting and a gentle mist of smoke, introducing texture and a cinematic feel to the imagery. It created a visual quietude, a stillness you can almost hear, while echoing the spaciousness Anna’s practice encourages.

As a photographer deeply embedded in the world of yoga and conscious movement, this is the kind of commission I thrive on. I understand the rhythm and nuance of breath-led practices. I look for authenticity in the moment: an unfurled hand, the shadow of an exhale, the grounded poise of someone utterly present in their body. This shoot wasn’t just about beauty. It was about truth. About capturing the interior world of a teacher who’s spent decades refining her message and creating images that feel as honest and intentional as the work itself.
