A sculptural studio shoot with
yoga teacher Catherine Annis

Responsive Line

There’s a certain kind of presence that only comes from living in your body and that’s exactly what Catherine Annis brings to her teaching. Her Scaravelli-inspired approach to yoga is gentle, intelligent, and quietly powerful. When she approached me for a personal brand shoot, she had a concept in mind that immediately sparked my creativity: something that represented the fascia, that deep, web-like connective tissue that holds us together from the inside out. We built the shoot around form, light, and flow. In the studio, we played with a translucent body stocking, creating a cocoon-like space that invited subtle movement and sculptural lines. Light revealed the shape of her body in layered, abstract ways, echoing the delicate strength and sensitivity of her practice.

This kind of shoot speaks deeply to what drives me as a photographer: capturing the soul of movement, the stillness within action, the poetry in the body. Catherine moved with the grace of someone who’s spent a lifetime inhabiting their body, a quality you can’t direct, only invite. Behind the camera, I looked for quiet moments, those in-between gestures where authenticity lives. There was no ‘pose’ here, only presence. That’s where the power lies. If you’re a wellness or movement professional with a story to tell, I bring years of experience, not just behind the lens, but inside the world you live and breathe. My style is soulful, dynamic, and creative, perfect for those who want imagery that feels alive and creating something really unique to you.
