The Women’s Rugby World Cup: Seen From the Inside
Photographing the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 was a career milestone and a deeply personal, physical, creative commitment. As a female sports photographer working across rugby’s biggest stage, I documented not only elite performance, but the human stories and cultural shift happening around women’s sport. World Sports Photography Finalist 2026: Women’s Rugby
Being selected as a World Sports Photography Awards finalist 2026 for my work at the Women’s Rugby World Cup is both an honour and a moment of reflection. This project was about committing to women’s rugby at scale, navigating real financial and logistical challenges, and staying true to a belief that these stories deserve time, care and visibility. This post offers a behind-the-scenes insight into the work, the archive, and why making it mattered so much to me.
Elle Mace Podcast: The Story Behind the Lens
People often remember the image, not the photographer behind the lens and I’ve always been fine with that. But in this conversation with Elle Mace for the ‘More to Life’ podcast, I opened up. About my journey, my health, my values and why I’m so passionate about creating honest, human-focused photography. Whether you're a brand, athlete or editor looking for imagery with real depth, this story shares what moves the way I shoot.
Sports Aid Wheelchair Basketball Tournament 2025
The fast-paced, emotionally charged energy of wheelchair basketball isn’t something you just watch, you feel it. In March 2025, I had the privilege of photographing the SportsAid Wheelchair Basketball Tournament at Copper Box Arena. The roar of the crowd, the intensity on court, the joyful camaraderie between players. It was a masterclass in resilience, inclusivity and fierce competition. This is the kind of work that fuels me as a documentary & sports event photographer. This is the story behind the images.
The Women’s Sport Trust #BeAGameChanger Awards Winner
The Women’s Sport Trust #BeAGameChanger Awards celebrate those pushing boundaries in women’s sport, and in 2018, ‘Standing in the Light ‘ was honoured as Imagery of the Year. This project wasn’t just about photography, it was about changing how female athletes are seen. Recognised alongside trailblazers like Stacey Copeland and the England Women’s Cricket Team, this moment reinforced why we need more women behind the camera to tell these stories authentically.
Shaping the Future of Women’s
Sports Photography
Because women’s sport deserves to be seen with honesty, energy, and respect
I’m Karen Yeomans, a London-based sports photographer specialising in women’s sport, movement and performance. This Press & News page brings together interviews, features and long-form stories that explore what it really takes to photograph elite sport and why representation behind the camera matters.
My work focuses on power, resilience, community and visibility. I photograph female athletes with the same intensity, craft and editorial intention historically reserved for men’s sport, creating imagery that feels real, cinematic and human.
Here you’ll find press coverage, awards news and behind-the-scenes insights from commissioned projects, including women’s rugby, boxing and wider sports storytelling. If you’re researching women’s sport photography, looking for a sports photographer in London, or commissioning a campaign-led shoot, these features offer a clear window into my approach and values.
