Erdinc Ajredin: Yoga on a Copenhagen Beach

Erdinc Ajredin is an international yoga teacher, photographed on a beach in Copenhagen during a short window in a commercial shoot I was already there for. There was no time to plan a set up, so the session became a matter of finding a stretch of coastline and working with whatever light and weather turned up, which on that day was a full, moving sky and a strong wind.
A location shoot like this only works if you can shoot fast and trust what's in front of you. We didn't storyboard or hold a pose for the camera, I worked with the wind and the light as they changed, letting Erdinc's own practice set the pace rather than directing each frame. That is the difference between a studio session and a shoot built entirely around a place and a moment that won't repeat.
