Katrina Kurdy: Personal Brand Photography in Golden Light
Portraits for yoga and hypnobirthing teachers in London
When Katrina Kurdy asked for personal brand portraits, we knew they needed to feel like her, grounded, open hearted, quietly powerful. She teaches yoga and hypnobirthing in East London, and holds space for people with real grace, so the brief was calm authority rather than stiff poses. We shot in a quiet green space in early summer light, Katrina barefoot in the grass, moving, stretching and grounding between frames.
The method here was movement, not direction. I never asked Katrina to pose. Instead I worked around her own sequence, a kneeling twist among daisies, a standing reach into warrior, hands coming to prayer as she settled, and let the early summer backlight do the rest, catching the edge of her skin and the grass around her rather than lighting her flat. The result reads like her classes feel, unforced and present, because nothing on the page was staged to look that way, it simply was.
This shoot sits alongside movement photography with Celest Pereira and yoga and doula portraits with Nikita Akilapa in the movement and wellbeing portfolio. For personal brand shoots built the same way, here is how commissions run.
If your work asks people to trust you before they meet you, these are the kind of images that do that work quietly, before a word is said.
