This project documents Kia Gangadeen's journey into roller skating in London, and how learning to move on wheels gave her confidence, connection and community. We met at dawn on quiet London streets in soft golden light, catching the quiet anticipation of every glide.
As a photographer, I'm always drawn to movement, not just physical, but emotional and personal movement. This is where my heart sits when I work: capturing real people in their element, their transformation, their spark. It's about finding those honest moments when people open up and allow the camera to witness something true. The London roller skating scene is layered, part sport, part art, and full of heart.
