A Portrait of Passion & Purpose
with Nolli Waterman

I’d never been to Bath Rugby Club before. But arriving at 8am, after a 5am start from London, I had a feeling something special was about to unfold. The sun broke gently over the pitch as we prepared to photograph Danielle “Nolli” Waterman, World Cup winner, trailblazing commentator, and one of England’s greatest ever players. Nolli greeted us with warmth and a quiet confidence. There’s a calm depth to her that you don’t always see through the screen. This shoot was for Rugby Journal, and my goal was to capture something true, beyond the pitch, we chatted beyond the powerful athlete, into the woman she is now: committed, thoughtful, still very much driven by the game she loves.

We photographed her around the city, Bath's historic character making a textured backdrop for a modern voice in rugby. I watched as she prepared her commentary notes, scribbled pages that spoke of passion, research, and deep respect for the game. Her legacy isn’t just her caps, it’s how she continues to shape the sport through her voice and visibility. These are the moments I live to capture. I’m not here for just the action shots, I’m drawn to what lies beneath. The strength behind the softness. The story in the stillness. As a London-based lifestyle and sports photographer, I create portraits that reflect authenticity and connection. Whether you're commissioning for a magazine, campaign, or brand story, this is the kind of work I love.
