Reshaping My Creative Journey

Photographing Lisa Moore, a female boxer and 2014 Haringey Box Cup winner, marked a turning point in my photography. Her presence, strength, and realness pushed me to shift my focus. At the time, I was becoming uncomfortable with some of the lifestyle imagery I was creating, it felt like it fed into unrealistic ideas of how women should look. Capturing Lisa in her element made it clear: I wanted to photograph women as they are strong, skilled, and powerful.

Lisa’s story speaks volumes. From podium dancer to boxing coach, from Ibiza nightlife to England’s national boxing squad, she’s redefined what female strength can look like. Photographing her helped me realise sport is where women can be seen with honesty and pride.
