Photographing Yasmin Miller
Power, Poise, and Progress

Photographing Yasmin Miller wasn’t just about capturing a talented athlete in motion, it was about honouring a journey. I’d followed her career for a while, from sprinting onto the international scene at 16 to her continued resilience in the 100m hurdles. Yasmin represents everything I love about photographing sport, strength, focus, and a real sense of inner drive. She’s not just fast; she’s determined, smart, and grounded, juggling her law degree alongside elite competition. That kind of quiet power is what I’m always drawn to through the lens.

We shot on track, letting the simplicity of the setting bring out her form, strength, and energy. Hurdles are such a visceral event to shoot, the suspension in mid-air, the tension before the sprint, the grit after the finish. There’s elegance in it, but also rawness. With Yasmin, every frame carried intention. And that’s what makes sports photography so rewarding for me, it’s not just documenting an athlete; it’s telling her story through light, shape and moment.
