Fit With Me is a private personal training studio inside Lord's Cricket Ground in London. I spent a day there with the trainers and their members, photographing the one to one sessions at the heart of it. The brief was simple and I loved it: show it as it is.

Nothing was staged. Every person in front of the camera was a real client who had agreed to take part, with no styling and nothing contrived. That sounds easy and it is the hardest way to shoot, because a training session doesn't wait for you. Several things were happening in the room at once, so I moved fast, read each session as it unfolded and kept a close eye on what sat behind every frame, because in a working studio the background is as much a decision as the subject. What I was after was the hands on coaching: a trainer correcting a client's position, a shared laugh over a dumbbell. Fit With Me is passionate about changing people's lives and process led, so the pictures needed to feel honest, not fluffy.

It was a personal place to work, too. I'm a lifelong cricket lover and I was back at Lord's in July to photograph the T20 Women's World Cup final. I loved joining the team for the day and capturing what they are about: helping people feel better about themselves, in a way that fits their busy lives.
