Capturing the Real Strength
Behind Every Athlete

Responsive Line

I travelled up to Nottingham to photograph Natasha Coates, a gymnast whose story you feel the moment you step into the gym. She's not just a champion, 27 British elite titles and 48 medals say that loud and clear but a quietly powerful force redefining what resilience looks like. Diagnosed with mast cell activation syndrome at 18, Natasha faces life-threatening reactions daily. When she trains, she can’t always feel her arms or legs. Yet there she is vaulting, balancing, pushing boundaries with grace and an inner grit that’s hard to look away from.

As a photographer, I’m not here to stage or style something that’s already extraordinary. I’m there to hold space for the real moments, her painted toenails catching light as she lands a beam routine, the stillness between breath and motion, the quiet joy when a move lands just right. That’s what fuels me. It’s the honest connection, the shared understanding that movement isn’t just performance, it’s expression, it’s survival, it’s identity. My photography is built on that truth. Working with athletes like Natasha is a privilege. It's not about making someone look strong; it’s about showing the strength that's already there. This is what I bring to every shoot, whether for a commercial campaign or a brand seeking to tell meaningful, empowering stories. If you’re looking to commission photography that gets under the skin of the story, that moves with the energy of the subject, and connects with your audience in a real way let’s talk.
